Just another quick update of how things around the garden are looking. We have some more ripe nightshade toms (yay!), we had surprise chamomile show up in our poppy pot, the bush nasturtiums are blooming, and so are the peas, pole beans and bush beans. Enjoy!
Sláinte!
Laurel
Everything looks great as usual =^)
ReplyDeleteEverything's just going wild isn't it?! What a beautiful closeup of the nasturtium flower. I love stuffed beefsteak tomatoes too. Mmmm...
ReplyDeleteThanks bek! I had another one of a nasturtium (similar with me holding the flower), and when I uploaded it, I noticed there was an earwig in it (eek!). So needless to say, it didn't make the cut to share. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat do you like to stuff in your tomatoes?
I have a ridiculously simple recipe which I think is delicious nonetheless. Off the top of my head, I think it's onion, garlic, slightly mashed chickpeas, lemon juice, black pepper and fresh basil. So good...
ReplyDeleteWe haven't had beefsteak tomatoes in a veg box for years now though, come to think of it. We tried to grow our own and they were a bit malformed! They didn't swell properly and were oddly ridged. The same thing happened to our friends. Tell us your secret ;)
look at all the pretty tomatos! i wish mine were doing so well.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anon! There is still hope yet, and I wish you a bountiful nightshade tom crop! :)
ReplyDeleteBek, thanks for the recipe! It sounds very yummy. :)
We're growing Beefstake, but they haven't ripened yet. Ours is coming out pretty rigid, which I just marked off as the crappy wet weather we have been having. The ones in the photos are Eva's Purple Ball, Peacevine Cherry (I think!), and at the bottom is supposedly Cosmonaut Volkov.
We got them as transplants, so I can't say for certain either way (!!!). :)
After a quick 'google' I found a photo of a Beefsteak, so I think mine are ok.
